looking up
The collection Looking Up is a project I started in 2021. As I wandered the London streets, I love to observe other people going about their days. Everyone has somewhere to go or something to do, and people keep their heads down or fixed ahead. Rarely did I observe people standing in front of building and look up. This series investigates a more abstract view of buildings, one which few people observe because we are so busy. Even though we ordinarily recognise buildings from a distance in its entirety, I believe the more abstract views I have photographed contain shapes and lines which we can readily identify as a specific building.
I chose to photograph these only on perfectly blue sky days so the focus would be on the architecture. Initially started as a project to photograph modern skyscrapers, I extended it to more historical buildings, which are lower and architecturally diverse, making these much easier to identify.
All the photographs are taken in London.
