This collection has its origins in Amsterdam, 2017. A crucial building in the photograph was covered in scaffolding, so I returned to the same spot six months later to photograph that building without scaffolding and I incorporated it into the original, producing a cleaner and more timeless image. It was only in 2025 when I was working on a project that required large scale prints that I used this technique again on a series of London skylines. Again, returning to exactly the same position to within a few centimetres, I zoomed into the skyline scene and photographed three images to replace the original one taken. Painstakingly editing in the new images, I was able to maintain the original feel of the image with the same sky and foreground (features without details), but with a sharper and updated city skyline. The result is I can print these photographs without loss of quality up to very large sizes. As a perfectionist this is extremely satisfying.

The original image and updated skyline images were taken several months or several years apart. And this gave this collection its name: The Longer Exposure.

This collection contains photographs from London, with additional images from Amsterdam and Luxembourg. All images are hand-edited by me, using a simple albeit time consuming method, to ensure there are no mistakes.
